What’s on tonight?

7 Oct

I just got home from the office and I don’t know where to start.  No, my apartment isn’t trashed (any more than usual); there isn’t laundry piling up (any more than usual); my bathroom isn’t in dire need of cleaning (any more than usual).  Rather, my Tivo is blowing up.

Seriously, here’s what’s recording:

  • Dexter
  • Law & Order: Special Victims Unit
  • Revenge
  • Modern Family
  • How I Met Your Mother
  • Fringe
  • Suburgatory
  • Breaking Bad
  • Ringer
  • Free Agents
  • Unforgettable
  • Criminal Minds
  • Gossip Girl
  • Prime Suspect
  • Person of Interest
  • 30 Rock
  • Up All Night
  • The Biggest Loser
  • Dateline
  • Project Runway
  • 2 Broke Girls
  • How To Be A Gentleman
  • A Gifted Man
  • 48 Hours Mystery
  • The Good Wife
  • Fashion Police
  • 20/20
  • Pan Am
  • Dancing with the Stars
  • Happy Endings
  • Hart of Dixie
  • Community
  • 90210
  • New Girl
  • Homeland
  • Boardwalk Empire
  • Hung
  • The Soup
  • Anderson
  • The Daily Show with Jon Stewart
  • The Colbert Report

Now, in the event that you are not completely dumfounded by this list, I should probably point out that Anderson is on five times per week and The Daily Show and Colbert four times per week each.  I’m also pretty sure I missed a few shows.  But really, who can keep track…?

Clearly there are going to have to be sacrifices.  The only show I’ve dropped so far though is The Office.  Despite the fact that it has been making me uncomfortable for years, I technically only dropped it because both tuners were needed for other shows…

Here are a few things I feel strongly about:

  • Watching live TV is for amateurs.  If you can’t fast forward, something is wrong.
  • With today’s technological advancements, are you seriously telling me that no one can develop a recording device that allows for more memory (so you can keep your shows longer) or a device with more than two recording tuners (I have hundreds of channels…)?
  • Revenge is definitely this fall’s best new show.  Although I haven’t started to watch Homeland yet which is supposed to be outstanding…

There’s really only one thing I can hope for now; that several of these shows go on hiatus before some of my other favorites – True Blood, United States of Tara, Californication, Royal Pains, Ice Loves Coco, Keeping Up with the Kardashians, Mob Wives, Weeds (the list goes on…) – come back from break.

I should probably take this opportunity to point out that I actually have a life, I swear….
