What February brings

Wearing red

Heart disease is the number one killer of women, and in response to the 500,000 lives it claims every year The American Heart Association launched its Go Red campaign in 2004.  The goal is to raise awareness and empower women to take control of their health.  Show your support by wearing red on Friday, February 3rd – National Go Red Day!*

Ms. Brown

M&M’s will introduce the world to Ms. Brown during this year’s Super Bowl on February 5th.  Ms. Brown is the sixth M&M caricature to hit the spotlight, joining her red, blue, yellow, orange and green counterparts.  An article in The New York Times describes Ms. Brown as “an intelligent woman with a sharp wit who finally decided to reveal herself after working for decades behind the scenes as ‘chief chocolate officer'”.

Showtime’s Homeland

I know what you’re thinking – because I thought it myself – just what I need, another TV show!  But I had to.  Had.  To.  Claire Danes plays a CIA analyst who believes a US Marine held captive as a POW in Iraq for eight years, played by Damien Lewis, has been turned against the United States and now threatens the security of the country.  I watched all 12 episodes of season 1 on Demand in less than 36 hours.  It’s seriously one of the best shows on TV.  Do it!

Liam Neeson

I was watching Jon Stewart interview Liam Neeson on The Daily Show a few weeks ago when I asked myself “When did Liam Neeson become so bad ass??”  When I think of the actor I think of his award winning performances in movies like Schindler’s List, Kinsey, Under Suspicion, and Michael Collins.  I think of Love Actually.  But his recent roles in movies like Taken, Unknown and The Grey lend to the inevitable: I have a crush on Liam Neeson.

#febphotoaday

It may sound redundant after yesterday’s post but I’m excited about this project!  The idea is simple: using the list below as inspiration, take a photo every day.  Then share it on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Tumblr or your blog.  I’m going to post my pictures weekly every Saturday.  Let me know if you’re taking on the challenge and how to follow your photos!

NY to DC to Boston…and back to NY

Late February through early April is traditionally a very hectic time for me at work.  The recruitment period for our Summer Program kicks into high gear and I find myself not only drowning alive in resumes, applicant inquiries and interviews but I also spend a lot of time building our presence on-campus and developing relationships with target universities.  The last weekend of February looks something like this: NY to DC to Boston to NY – for a grand total of three recruitment events in four days!

*Please note: my agency works on the Go Red campaign however this is not my reason behind posting #client
